Materials Needed

  • Printable templates
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Split pin (paper fastener)
  • Double-sided tape
The image shows the materials for a ladybug-themed children's learning activity arranged on a light wood-grain table. Two printed sheets display ladybug parts and spinner wheels. One spinner features images of a bird, fish, and ball, each labeled with the corresponding word. The other spinner displays numbers and matching quantities of bananas and pizza slices. A pencil, scissors, a brass fastener, and a roll of clear tape are placed beside the printed sheets. These materials suggest a craft or game involving assembling the ladybug and using the spinners, likely for literacy and numeracy development.

Step-by-step tutorial

Step 1

Cut out the printable templates along the outline.

Two hands are shown cutting out a red circle from a piece of paper using white-handled scissors. The red circle is part of a ladybug craft, as other ladybug components and learning spinners are visible on the light wood-grain table. The spinners are divided into segments showing pictures of a dog, bird, fish, egg, and quantities of pizza slices and bananas, along with corresponding words and numbers. This image captures the preparation stage of a ladybug-themed children's activity, likely focused on developing early literacy and numeracy skills.
Step 2

Make a hole in the white circle at the centre of each template piece using a pencil.

Two hands are shown assembling a ladybug learning aid on a light wood-grain table. A pencil is being used to poke a hole in the center of a red and black ladybug cutout with the letters Aa printed on it. Other ladybug parts and learning spinners are visible on the table. The spinners are divided into segments, one showing pictures of a dog, bird, fish, egg, and quantities of pizza slices and ice cream cones, along with corresponding words and numbers. This image captures the construction phase of a children's educational activity focused on basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Step 3

Carefully cut out the grey sections from the front of both ladybird templates, following the outline precisely.

Two hands are using scissors to cut a ladybug-shaped learning aid on a light wood-grain table. The ladybug is red with black spots and has the number 1 printed on it. Other ladybug parts and a learning spinner are visible on the table. The spinner is divided into segments showing pictures of a cat, dog, fish, book, apple, along with corresponding words. This image captures the process of creating a children's educational game focused on basic literacy and numeracy.
Step 4

Layer the pieces in this order: ladybird front - content card - ladybird back. Make sure the red sides of the ladybirds face outward. Insert the split pin through the centre holes of all three pieces.

Two hands assemble a ladybug-shaped learning tool on a light wood-grain table. One hand holds the red and black ladybug cutout with the letters Aa printed on it, while the other hand fastens a metal brad through the center. The edge of a small picture card with the word cat is visible beneath the hand inserting the brad. This close-up image shows the final steps of creating an educational aid for children, likely designed as a spinner or matching game.
Step 5

Flip the assembled ladybird over and secure the split pin.

Two hands manipulate a brad fastener on the back of a red circular piece of material, likely part of a ladybug craft project. The brad's prongs are being folded down against the red surface, which has a black section at the top suggesting the ladybug's head. The hands and the red circle are positioned on a light wood-grain surface. This close-up image focuses on the assembly process of securing the brad, a common step in children's crafts.
Step 6

Apply double-sided tape along the edge of the ladybird's head, then align and secure both sides together.

Two hands are shown assembling a ladybug-shaped learning spinner on a light wood-grain table. One hand holds the spinner, which features the letters Aa, a picture of a cat, and the word Cat. The other hand peels back a piece of double-sided tape from the spinner's edge. This image illustrates the process of creating an interactive educational tool for children.
Step 7

Repeat the process for the second ladybird.

Two completed ladybug-shaped learning spinners are displayed on a light wood-grain table. The left spinner shows the letters Aa and a picture of an apple slice with the word Apple. The right spinner shows the number 1 and a picture of a gift with the number 1. These spinners are designed as educational tools for young children, likely for matching or alphabet and number recognition activities.
Step 8

Your alphabet spinner is ready to use - start learning!

Two hands hold a circular ladybug-themed learning toy. The toy features the letter Aa and rotates to reveal corresponding words and pictures, such as Apple.
