What's this? Paper flowers can actually bloom? That's right, these little paper flowers will truly blossom before your eyes! This is a fun and simple experiment that will make your children believe in the magic of science! They'll love watching the paper flowers open up on their own in water.
- Age: 6-8
- Time: Less than 30 minutes
- Level:A little Messy
- Adult Supervision Required
Materials Needed:
- A4 paper
- Colored Pens
- Plate
- Scissors
- Water
- Food Colouring

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Draw a few small flowers on the A4 paper and colour them in. Cut out the flowers along their outlines.
- Fold the flower petals inward one by one in sequence, forming the shape of a flower bud.
- Pour some water into the plate and add a few drops of food colouring.
- Place the folded paper flowers into the plate. Watch carefully, and you'll see these little flowers slowly blooming in the water.

The Science Behind It:
Paper is made from ground wood pulp, which contains a large number of fibre tubes. This allows the fibre tubes in the paper flowers to absorb water through capillary action, letting water transfer from the centre to the petals. As the water transfers, the paper flower slowly opens up.
