You've surely seen Christmas trees made from cones before—there are many ways to decorate them. Today we'll be using cotton wool, small coloured baubles, and some fairy lights to create a Christmas tree night light. This activity is very simple and will keep children thoroughly engaged.
- Age: 6-8
- Time: Less than 1 hour
- Messiness level: A bit messy
Materials Needed:
- White Glue
- Small Coloured Baubles
- A4 Paper or White Card
- Cotton Wool
- Fairy Lights
- Pen
- Scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place the A4 paper flat on the table with the short edge facing you. Starting from one corner, roll the paper inwards to form the base of a cone. Continue rolling until you've created your desired cone shape. The size of the base depends on how tightly you roll the paper. Secure the edge of the cone with glue or tape to maintain its shape.
- Cut off any excess paper from the cone so it can stand upright on the table.
- Evenly brush a layer of white glue over the surface of the cone.
- Pull the cotton wool into small tufts and stick them onto the cone.
- Draw a star on paper, cut it out, and stick it along with some small coloured baubles onto the Christmas tree as decorations.
- Attach the fairy lights to the inside of the Christmas tree, switch them on, and turn off the room lights. Your Christmas tree night light is now complete.
